The Road To Being Debt Free
There really doesnt seem to be a definite answer to this as even the wealthiest of people and those who fall into high income brackets manage to get into debt despite big earnings. Willpower, expectations and lifestyles does seem to play a big part in this. Spending on luxury items is on the increase and people are spending more than they can afford. We feel pressured into having bigger and better things.
If you are in denial and your financial situation is getting from bad to worse, then you need to take a good look at this and be honest with yourself. The road to getting debt free wont happen on its own, and you may need to be hard on yourself in order to get back on track with this.
There are simple things like controlling your spending which will help you get onto the road to being debt free. As simple as it sounds, some of us still continue to spend despite getting deeper and deeper into debt. This is the most obvious and first place to start in order to get your finances back onto track. Distinguish between essential and luxury items. We are all guilty of purchasing things we dont really need so really question yourself before making purchases.
Keep a log of all your fixed outgoings and include payment such as minimum payments on credit cards. Ensure that you meet all of these payments and that they are made on time. As part of this process you should consider destroying any credit cards that you dont use or dont have an outstanding balance on. This will help in reducing the temptation to spend unnecessarily
All in all, mange your finances better. Know exactly what goes out every month compared to your income. Give yourself a spending allowance each month. This will encourage you to think about what you are spending on and should help you budget better.
