Parkinson’s Disease Society Thanks Fund Raising Runners, UK
This autumn (fall) sees several popular fundraising running events taking place at home and abroad. Funds are vital to the work of the Parkinson’s Disease Society (PDS), and the money raised by our PDS running teams will help us to expand our services to people with Parkinson’s and to fund research into finding the cause and one day the cure - as well as the best treatment for Parkinson’s.
On Sunday 05 September, a PDS team of around 250 women took part in the Flora Light Challenge in London and Birmingham.
On Sunday 26 September, our 109-strong PDS team will join 47,000 runners for the 2003 Great North Run. The GNR, which takes runners from Newcastle to South Shields, is the world’s biggest half marathon.
The PDS GNR team is aiming to beat its record fundraising total of over 29,000! Once again, the PDS Events Team will be awarding prizes to the top two fundraisers.
Finally, the Parkinson’s Disease Society (UK) has a team of 15 runners taking part in the New York City Marathon on Sunday 7 November. The 26-mile route travels through the five diverse boroughs of New York City - Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan, where the race finishes in Central Park.
Thank you to all PDS Team Runners for taking part in the above events - good luck with your training and fundraising! If you are not taking part, please do come along and help PDS staff and supporters cheer our runners on!
And for next year
