So now that you have written a great ebook or developed the perfect php script, you need a salespage. Even if you have never tried to sell anything before, you can create a salespage that will convert visitors into customers. Follow these easy guidelines and your salespage will be up and running in no time.
1. Do not worry about making it perfect. There is no such thing as the perfect salespage. At first, just get it up. Then you can tweak it as you go along. The hardest part of any marketing project is getting started.
2. Scope out the competition. Look at the websites of other marketers who are selling a similar type of product. It does not necessarily need to be the same topic, just the same type. Are you selling an ebook about dog training? Then look for websites that sell ebooks about pets, animals and dog training. What do you like on the site and what makes you want to just click away as fast as possible?
3. Use simple colors and a simple design. A lot of colors or flash animation makes it hard for your visitors to focus on the important part of your site -- the copy you have written about your product.
4. Do not advertise for others. Perhaps you have sites with PPC ads on them to make a little extra money when visitors click away. Remember, on this site, you are trying to sell your own product. Do not have advertisements for other products that might tempt your visitors. Sure, you might make a few cents when a visitor leaves your site, but the competition may have just made a hundred times more.
5. Always offer a money-back guarantee. Some people are reluctant to offer a refund because they do not want to give any refunds. However, a visitor is more likely to convert to a customer if they believe that they are not risking any money. If you are getting a high number of refund requests, then you probably need to take a look at the quality of your product or the content of your salespage.
6. If you get a testimonial, put it on your site. Do not write your own testimonials. They will never sound real. For a testimonial to be effective, it needs to be accompanied by a name and a website URL if appropriate.
7. Offer bonuses. People will believe that they are getting more for their money if you are giving away bonuses with your product. The bonus does not have to cost you much and it can go a long way to creating more sales.
8. Remember your customer. Who are you selling to? Is your product designed to save someone time or solve a problem? Then tell them how it will save time or fix their problem. Is it going to make them some money? Then tell them how much money and how much time and effort it will take. Be realistic in your estimations.
9. Create a compelling headline. Use a large, attractive and easy to read font. Many people use red, which certainly commands attention. On the right website, any bright solid color can work. No matter what color you choose, it should contrast with the color of the regular text.
10. Provide details and samples. If you wrote an ebook, include the table of contents and a single page (or part of a page) for potential customers to read. If you wrote a script, provide a screenshot or a short video of the script in action.
As you start to get traffic to your website, test changes to your salespage to see how it affects your sales. You will learn what your customers like to see.
