Newspapers have been a major part of everyone\'s lives in the world for at least 10 decades and more, but things are changing and newspaper are also feeling the wrath of the economic downturn, or are they? Is there something more to the slump in recent newspaper sales? Let\'s delve a little deeper.
Recently the mail on Sunday announced that it has seen a major drop in sales, most people seem to think this is because of the economic downturn, but in my opinion there is a lot more to it then that. Technology is forever increasing and as the internet grows larger and larger people throughout the world begin to access any information and current use they need online.
Everyone in this day and age has access to computer systems, whether this is from a desktop or laptop, but with the growth in mobile access a lot more people are going to be accessing information on the move. One place that I always see newspapers being used is on the trains, people love to read while they are commuting. But I again do not see how long this is going to last, because when mobile phones that access the internet begin to come more popular people are just going to browse to their favourite news sites.
I mean there is no reason that the credit crunch in all honesty should affect this type of market, newspapers at the most cost 30p, people are not going to be shy to buy a news paper for that kind of price. The reason that they may be suffering is because technology is advancing, no one wants to read a news paper anymore.
I mean why would you when you can pull out your mobile phone, get free access to the internet and read all of the up to date stories online, not stories that are 12-14 hours old. Plus there are many other numerous benefits such as being able to view proper coloured images of stories and more and more sites are beginning to place videos of actual stories ultimately giving you an even better overview. Besides from that you can also get involved in discussions on stories and leave your opinions which also gives it that little bit of extra added benefits. Summing up I do not believe that news papers are suffering because of the credit crisis but mainly due to the increase in technology.
