You can write the best and the most informative article in the world, but if you are writing your author resource box with any one of these seven mistakes I am about to share, your article will NOT be read.
So let us first define what an author resource box is. It is a term used in Article Marketing. It is the author bio that is after the article body. It is sometimes referred to as an author signature Or Sig box. When using articles for content from an article
directory, it is often required that you keep the resource box in tact.
The first mistake that people make in their resource box is that they do nothing but talk about themselves. How good they are, how much they know, what they have done, what they own, and how many sites they have. On and on it goes.
So let me just say, Do not do that. No one really cares that you have 20 degrees and graduated from 5 different universities or what fraternity or sorority you belonged to.It may hurt your feelings but they just do not care.Your author resource box has to pass the would anyone care test.If it does not, then throw it out.
The second mistake that people make is forgetting that it is all about the reader and getting them to do what you would like them to do. You need to take your time and look at your author resource box knowing it is NOT about you, but about the reader getting the information they want.
The third mistake is one that you would not think anyone would make, but believe me I have seen it numerous times. They simply forget to put their webpage address in the author resource box or they do not use the correct formatting which is:
http://www.Your-Company-Name.com/
The fourth mistake is that people stop short of the real goal. They think the goal is to get the person to click on their link, but what the real goal is, is that you want them to join your list,to come into your domain and interact with you. Your resource box should invite and give access to you in such a way that they can not resist. For instance:
Discover the best kept secrets of writing successful articles that literally send a massive surge of highly targeted visitors flooding to your web site. Article, Ecourse,eBook reveals all.Available at http://www.your website.com
I would like to invite you to find out more about how to publish articles for profit online with this free Ecourse, available at:http://www.yourwebsitename.com
As you can see the goal was surpassed and the person now has to go to your website to get the free item. Then to get that free item they have to opt in which they can with the opt in box and you then capture their email address too.
The fifth mistake is that the body of the article does not lead into the bio box.It looks separate when you type it in and yet it is like the next paragraph after you submit it.
For instance give a soft sell at the end of the article, something like I invite you to use the tool, software, program etc, when you need to do keyword research and then the first line of the resource box could be: And now I would like to invite you to get your free tool, software, program etc, at http://www.yourwebsite.com/.
The sixth mistake is that they never give a clear and decisive call to action (CTA).This should be kept simple and to the point. DO NOT give them choices.A call to action is asking them to do something, the thing you most want them to do, join your list.
The last and final mistake is that they either forget to put their name, or use it to much. Use it once and at the end. This is so the reader will link what they read with your name.
Now that you know the seven mistakes you may be making in writing your author resource box, you should be well on your way to getting each and every article
submitted, accepted and read.
