Car Coverage Claims: What To Do?
The first thing you need to do when you have an auto insurance claim is to get in touch with your insurance company.
If you find damage to your car or property, or you are involved in an accident, the very first thing to do is contact your insurance carrier. In most cases, if there is criminal activity, such as a moving violation or criminal damage, you will want to first call the police. They’ll take care of insurance and makes sure that everyone involved is satisfied and provided for. Regardless of whether the police are called, you’ll need to get the other driver’s contact and insurance information in order to make a claim on either your own insurance or that of the other driver. Next, you should contact your auto insurance company and contract to proceed.
Claims are anything that may be covered by your insurance policy. If something happens to you, to your car or to property that is caused by your vehicle, you will need to use your insurance company to pay for the damages. Making a claim is what this process is called. Once the insurance company finishes their investigation (if one is needed), they will either issue you a check or request you bring your vehicle in for repair. This will allow you to get your vehicle fixed or to pay off the other individual that may have been hurt by your mistake. This process is quite simple for most insurance companies.
Keep in mind, though, that if you should be in an accident and anything happens to you or the other driver, you should never admit guilt. Just state that you are unaware of what had occurred, and allow the insurance companies to battle it out. If you admit to wrongdoing, your claim might not be covered, and the responsibility will fall on you for damages to your vehicle.
