Before the game, Kansas City Wizards head coach Curt Onalfo gave his team a pep talk. He wanted his veteran players to step up their game against Real Salt Lake. The coach\'s talk worked. Veteran Josh Wolff registered two goals and Kevin Hartman made seven saves to lift the Wizards past Real Salt Lake 2-0 last week. Kansas City gave Real Salt Lake their first home loss of the season. Onalfo knew his team struggled in their last two games and didn\'t feel like the club\'s performance reflected what they were about. The coach added that the team had an inspired a week of training. Jack Jewsbury floated the ball over the defense and Wolff beat goalkeeper Chris Seitz on a breakaway in the 20th minute. Kansas City (4-4-2) snapped a three-game winless streak and extended their lead in the 67th minute when Michael Harrington fed the ball in front of Wolff, who quickly found the back of the net for the second time. Wolff explained how he scored both of his goals to the press. He stated that his first goal caught their back line flat after he gave the ball a good tap while the second goal almost got away from him, but he was able to chip the ball over the goalie.

Wolff is on a hot streak. He scored in three straight games and has six goals this season, which is tied for the most in MLS with Chicago\'s Brian McBride. The last time Wolff produced two goals in one game was on April 18th in a 2-2 tie against Chicago. Onalfo praised Wolff by saying he was outstanding. The coach continued to say that his star player makes intelligent runs and put the finishing touches against Real Salt Lake. RSL (3-5-1) tried to get into the game when Kyle Beckerman drove a shot in the 47th minute, but the ball ricochet off the post. Javier Morales\' follow-up shot was deflected wide. Luis Miguel Escalada had an excellent opportunity on net, but his shot rang off the crossbar. It wasn\'t their night and RSL extended their losing streak to four straight loses.

Jewsbury received his fourth assist of the season while Harrington got his second of the year. Although RSL finished the match with a 7-4 shot advantage, they were shut out for the fifth time this season. RSL\'s head Coach Jason Kreis believes his club showed great effort, but just were not good enough to pull past Kansas City. The Wizards were able to secure a victory because of the solid game Hartman had displayed.

The goalkeeper made four saves in the final 10 minutes plus stoppage time, as he earned his fourth shutout of the season. The 34-year-old goalie made two key saves in the 36th minute, first blocking a shot by Robbie Russell that went wide off the goal and blocked a header delivered by Beckerman on the ensuing corner kick. Wolff knows that Hartman came through in last 15 minutes of play by blocking the shots that came on net.
