If you happen to move into a home you are buying, if you feel soft spots in the floors you will likely have problems with water damage. It might not be a really big problem right away, but you will and when it does be ready. This damage might be so bad that the job might take several days to complete. In the long run you would be better off staying someplace else when the job is being done especially at night. If the floor has to be completely removed staying at night is not a good idea as you will not be able to take a bath, wash dishes or clothes as your water will have to be shut off.

If this job takes several days and it most likely will, it can become rather expensive to eat out every night. This damage can come from many places in the home and no matter how much the amount of water there is, the damage from it will show up later. Water damage can begin within 24 hours and some of this water you might not be able to remove. It can seep into the smallest creak and will hide there for awhile allowing this damage to take hold. Once this damage is there, it will keep going and going. You may never be sure that this damage is there until you either smell mold, feel weak spots, or find the wetness where it has saturated somewhere and begun to rot.

When you start finding leaks, you will need to find the right company that will be able to fix it. If this home is one you rent, it will be up to the owner to fix, but is up to you to tell them about the problem. If this is your home, make sure that you get this work taken care of as soon as you can because if you wait to long it will end up costing you a lot of money.
