When you are starting a cleaning business that cleans commercial offices one of the most important thing you need to think about is pricing. In the beginning it can seem overwhelming. So when you sit down to start considering what your prices are going to be there are somethings to keep in mind.
First do not worry about having an exact price. Once you have bided on a few jobs then you will realize if your price is too low or too high and then you can adjust it. Some other thing to keep in mind when deciding on a price is net profit, supply and demand, the competition, find out how much the products are going to cost.
Sit down and figure out how much it would cost you to do the job. That does not stop at the price of the cleaning supplies. You also have to consider how much tax you will need to pay for the job. Remember you are pulling a paycheck. The goal is to pay the taxes, have enough to buy the supplies, pull a paycheck and have some money aside for if your business needs to grow. For example if you need more employees.
The next thing to do is get the phonebook and look to see how many commercial cleaning businesses are in your area. That has a lot to do with how you price your services. If there are not that many then it is ok to charge a little more. If there are a lot of other companies that offer the same service then keep the price very reasonable. You do not want to keep getting out bid by the other companies in your area.
That brings us to the next step checking out the competition. The best way to this is to call other companies outside of your area. The reason to call the companies out of your area is because they will be a little more inclined to tell you what they charge. You are not their competition. When calling a different area try to pick an area that is similar to yours that way you can get a better idea.
The next thing is to call the places that supply the supplies that you will need. This is a great way to get some information. Once you tell them what you may need that is a good time o start asking other questions. Ask questions about the industry. If you start off by telling them what products that you may need because they want your business they will be more inclined to answer your questions. Also this lets you come off less intimidating.
