"Plasma getting bigger, Jesus getting smaller/ Spill a cup of coffee, make a million dollars." Sound familiar? That's right, it's Toby Keith's new scathing single "American Ride," and anyone who thinks the song's risque lyrics are shocking should see his new music video for the song! The saucy animated music video for "American Ride" debuted on CMT last week, and it's most certainly stirred up the country music crowd as it pokes fun at everything from Mexican immigration to foreign leaders to political figures and so much more. The music video displays the theme of an animated Toby Keith riding his motorcycle around America while events he sings about come crashing down in the background, and while this music video is most certainly witty and clever as can be, it's also taking stabs at all kinds of American norms, sparking controversy around the country.

The music video starts out with Keith on his bike singing about loving this American life, and then it depicts an animated scene of people in sombreros jumping across the Mexican border while Uncle Sam watches over the chaos with a frightened look. Among the other jabs at American culture in this music video are one George Bush giving the other a piggyback ride, President Obama being hoisted into the air, the stoic man-and-woman figures from the Grant Wood painting American Gothic being booted from their home after placing a foreclosure sign in the ground instead of the pitchfork, and many more hilarious if offensive simulations are included in this three minute video, as well. When asked about his bold approach to the new single "American Ride," Keith said, "I'm a 'right-wrong guy' not a 'right-left guy' and this video shows that. We took our shots at everyone."

While "American Ride" depicts all the things that irk Keith and many other Americans about some of the slanted culture in the U.S., the ironic part about the song is that Toby Keith admits to loving the country anyway, singing in the chorus: "That's us, that's right/ Gotta love this American ride./ Both ends of the ozone burnin'/ Funny how the world keeps turnin'/ Look Ma, no hands./ I love this American ride/ Gotta love this American ride." This love-hate relationship is already bringing out a similar love-hate relationship between country music fans and this edgy music video, and more is sure to arise as "American Ride" looks for entrance to the Top 20 countdown on country music giants CMT and GAC.

While the animated music video for "American Ride" can now be seen from television sets in living rooms across the country, the live version of this butt-kicking Toby Keith classic can heard for everyone with Toby Keith tickets to one of his several upcoming performances. Toby Keith's America's Toughest Tour is still a rowdy favorite blazing a path across the country with the help of opening act Trace Adkins, and tickets to several stops on the tour are still available online, so come check out Toby Keith as he lives out his American ride on tour this summer and fall!
