Google are probably one of the richest companies in the whole world, the company initially made their money from the search industry. Google's closest rival in this day and age has to be Microsoft. Microsoft are also another multibillion dollar computer firm. These two companies are always battling to outwit each other in every field including software, hardware, search and other services. Google in the past few years has entered a variety of different industries that Microsoft has been dominating for so long, such as the web browser sector.
Google though have not yet tried to enter the million dollar gaming industry and personally I only think that this is a few years away. Microsoft are fast becoming the number one console and Google will want a piece of that too. But as history has always shown there has only ever been room for three consoles in the globe. So if the Google console did get released what could we expect to see from their gaming device? Let's take a brief look.
Graphics
When Google launch something new they always want to be the best. The company itself has millions of dollars in the bank so can invest in getting the best hardware to create the ultimate console.
Developers
We all know that you need to have contact with third party developers and need to have great contacts in order to get the most from your games console. Without the developers no games will be created. But Google already have many contacts throughout the world and anything they launch has worldwide media attention.
Price
Google are a company that gives offerings for free. Any service they launch is usually free and then they earn money from advertising revenue, which has worked great for them all this time.
Web Based
This in my opinion is probably the most crucial aspect, Google are trying to bring everything online. Personally this is where I see gaming going. The current game consoles still rely on discs to play and have internal hard drives. If Google want to compete then they should offer real time gaming online, where everyone's game data will be stored. They can buy digital games online and also earn revenue from advertising. I mean what better company to offer this then Google who have highly powerful servers in place to pull this off. Online gaming is the thing of the future and the introduction of Google's announced operating system may well be a platform to begin.
