The spa business is booming in America, even during these tough economic times. It seems as if women are simply not willing to give up pampering themselves and going to a spa for a facial or massage is a great way to relax and let cares melt away. If you are opening a new spa, one of the most essential pieces of equipment you will purchase is your facial bed: simply put, if a woman isn't absolutely comfortably during her facial, she won't come back. Here are some tips for choosing the right facial bed for your new spa.

-- Go for Comfort

As was mentioned above, making a client feel comfortable is key whether she is getting a facial, massage, pedicure, or hair services. Years ago, our necks would ache after leaning back to get our hair rinsed at beauty parlors. Since then, manufacturers have gotten smarter and have begun to produce much more comfortable furniture for salons and spas. Your clients should never have to strain or be expected to relax in uncomfortable positions. Getting a facial should be an escape from the real world, and a client will only fully relax if she is doing so in complete comfort.
Some chairs come with built in heating elements as well as finger massagers to give clients a real day of decadence and pampering!

-- Go for Function

After a client's comfort, the ease with which an aesthetician can do her job should be your next consideration. An adjustable facial bed allows the aesthetician to manipulate the position of the bed so that she can better reach the client and perform all of her magic. You should be able to adjust the height of the bed as well as its incline. Many chairs use hydraulics for adjustment, but there is also electric equipment that will move the chair more smoothly. Some chairs come standard with a stool for additional convenience.

-- Go for Hygiene

Because all kinds of lotions, oils, water, etc. are the tools of the trade, the facial chair should be able to resist all of these materials and still look great. Beds and chairs must be upholstered in water repellant materials both for convenience sake as well as sanitary purposes. Even if paper is used to cover chairs, there is always the likelihood that liquids will seep underneath. The chair should be able to be completely cleaned and sterilized after each use.

Buying your spa equipment is the single most important purchase you'll make. So be sure to shop around and compare various models of beds and chairs before making that crucial purchase, and keep your clients' needs forefront in your mind at all times.
