With so many people using blogging to get their message out, it has become more important that ever to know the exact steps to take to increase web traffic to your blog. Although many people just write to promote their opinions and services, we all know that most of us blog to promote our websites, and to give quality information to people seeking knowledge. Now, I'm sure we all wish that we could just write some random information down and receive instant blog traffic, but hopefully you know it doesn't work that way. Just like you have to know how to build website traffic, you have to know how to build blog traffic as well. Here's a few ways that you can use to get lots of blog traffic to your blog and increase your blog ranking all at the same time:

1. Make sure your writing a blog entry that people are going to want to read.

This may seem a bit obvious to you, but many internet marketers seem to forget that they are writing to real people out there, and may be writing too broad or not detailed enough. You have to write as though your writing to someone who has no idea how to build blog traffic, or even where to start.

Make sure your writing information that is compelling to read, and would catch your attention if your were the one reading it. Again, this may all seem trivial, but you'd be surprised how many people out there are writing posts that do not have good content in them. Now, when you think about good content, it should be short and sweet, and stick to one topic for the entirety of the blog. This not only makes the submission an easier read, but it gives you leeway to use other ideas for more posts. You also want to make sure your writing regularly so that your viewers always have fresh content to read. This also is advantageous to you so that search engines can pick up on more of your posts. More posts = lots of blog traffic.

2. Submit your RSS feed and post to online directories

Now, if you don't know what an RSS feed is, it stands for "Really Simple Syndication", which really is a way to let your viewers know when you have written a new post, and keep them up to date. Although this is a great tool for your viewers, it can also be a huge asset to you as well. If you Google "RSS feed directories" or "blog directories" you'll get a ton that come up. These help you, in that, they not only get you a lot of blog traffic, but they also help to notify search engines of when you have a new post.

3. Make sure your blogs are optimized for search engines

This may sound a bit confusing, but it's really not at all. The best way to learning how to build blog traffic is learning how to use keywords to your advantage. First, your going to want to make sure the title of your submissions are being used at least 4 to 5 times in your post. This helps those spider bots, that Google uses, to pick up on your post much easier. Secondly, most blogs do this for you automatically, but you want to make sure that your keywords are being used in the URL of the blog post. This ensures that when you are submitting to your directories that your keywords are being picked up again for optimal ranking in Google.

4. Use a "Ping" service

A "ping" is just a fancy way to tell search engines that you have written another blog post, and again is a great way to get lots of blog traffic. It's really simple to do, and helps you to get search engines to see quicker that you have updated your blog. A great source that I use, that pings my post to several directories at the same time, is a site called Ping-O-Matic.

5. Rewrite your posts, if need be, to make them into articles

Article submissions are one of the easiest ways to get instant traffic to you r blog. Google loves article directories, but they supply good information, and most directories don't allow spamming in them. You can almost disguise the limit to how many article directories there are online, but the biggest one's are ezinearticles, go articles, and article dashboard. These three will give you a great start, and are ranked very high on Google's PR.

6. Build some back links to your blog

Now, there are a few ways to do this while learning how to build traffic to you blog. The first, is through forums. Forums provide an endless opportunity for backlinks, and instant blog traffic. The nice thing about forums is you don't have to know much more than the next guy to provide good information that is going to catch someone's eye. Your always going to know at least one thing that someone else doesn't, which will always work to your advantage. Get acquainted with some forums and just start posting in them. Nothing is too stupid, or monotonous.

Another way to get a backlink is to post a comment on someone else's blog, or directing readers to other people's blog. This may seem odd at first, but as soon as you do this, it will place a invisible link on someone else's blog that can be redirected back to you. This can open up a way for you to ask to swap links with someone that has a similar blog to yours.

These tips should give you a really good start on how to build blog traffic. If you follow these steps every time you write a new submission you will be getting lots of blog traffic in no time.
