There is no question left as to what it does to the human body. It is deadly and that is that. There is no safe way to smoke cigarettes that require burning tobacco. If they have not made you physically sick already, they are likely to sooner rather than later. The numbers of illnesses and diseases that you can get because of tobacco smoking are huge and the chance that you will develop one of them is also huge. Having friends, family, or even a family doctor to support you and encourage you can help make you more determined to not fail. There are on-line chat rooms filled with people trying to give up smoking. Joining in their conversations can be helpful too. Gather help from anywhere you can. Stay away from other smokers while you are trying to quit. The step down method of quitting does work well for some. As long as you can eliminate a few cigarettes here and there and continue to step down, you might be more likely to eventually quit completely and stay quit. Those that quit cold turkey are successful sometimes, but many that try to stop this way end up starting smoking again.
